Shanti Regester, LMFT, CA #92756

Board Trustee

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma, children/adolescents, and parenting.  I completed my BS in psychology at Agrosy University in 2009, continuing on to receive my Masters of Arts in counseling psychology in 2011. I gained experience working in community mental health for 10 years and later managing a mental health program for the Department of Mental health in California.  During my time training and working with parents and children, I learned many theories, strategies and techniques. However, I often felt frustration and a sense of hopelessness when I didn't see the progress I hoped for. I learned that I was not alone in having these thoughts and feelings- lack of confidence in one's parenting ability is a common struggle.

I became certified in an evidence based practice, "Child, Parent, Psychotherapy" in 2016 and gained my licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I also received a certification in Attachment, Neurodevelopment, and Psychopathology from the Family Relations Institute. I have found Attachment and Adaptation to be the missing piece in meeting families needs. Our attachment "system" works as our immune system to adverse experiences and I believe the practice of attunement to be the single most beneficial tool for creating a healthy attachment. Feeling compelled to share insights in developing attunement, I wrote and published a book called, “Learning What Works, Discover Your Baby and Yourself”, to help caregivers attach to their baby during their first year of life. I also maintain a private practice in Huntington Beach, CA using my applied education and experience. http://www.learningwhatworksbook.com/
