Earth Haven Therapy was established in 2021 and is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation with locations in California and Florida. Our mission is to improve the accessibility of quality mental health care for underserved communities such as those with financial or insurance barriers and mental health stigma. Our vision is to one day see that every person who needs professional support, could easily access it like they would access other forms of healthcare. Since its inception, Earth Haven Therapy has served thousands of clients and trained dozens of mental health interns and student trainees.
We are a team of trained professionals who seek to improve the societal functioning of people who have lived through adverse childhood experiences, or ACES, which leads to higher incidences of retraumatization, substance abuse, homelessness, health conditions, and mental illness. Through the framework of ACES, clients learn how to cultivate their protective factors and strengths, for a healthier and stronger generation of families.
The past several years have had an unprecedented global impact on mental health. What the data says about Orange County, CA: Nearly 1 in 6 people report needing help with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems. There has been an increase in suicide rates in Orange County in the past ten years and spiked to the highest level in 100 years in 2019. Rates were while slightly down in 2020 and still declining. We are here to respond to these outcomes, and believe a recognition of the importance of mental health will be a positive result.
The name Earth Haven Therapy was chosen to represent the metaphor that we can find a safe haven on our very own Earth. There are healing properties freely available to us that our minds may not be attuned to. The research has shown that when we connect with green spaces, our mental and physical health improve. Nature is also where we can center and connect with our state of being; not our state of thought, feeling, or solving. We hope our clients find a haven with us as they build for a stronger and healthier tomorrow.
